Do your pipes sing?
We get calls all the time about pipes humming, singing, screaming, knocking, and so forth. If you have experienced any of these
symptoms there is a good chance that you are the victim of high pressure. High pressure in a home can be attributed to a number of causes. The two usual suspects are your pressure reducing valve or increased thermal expansion. A failed or failing PRV can cause very high pressure or restricted flow leading to excessive vibration in the system. This condition may very well be the source of your harmonics. A ruptured thermal expansion tank may have the same effect, but can also leave debris in your plumbing system causing leaks, failure of fixtures, and possible clogs in the supply system. In order to isolate the source of your pipe’s overture, you may want to have a qualified Casteel technician properly diagnose the source of the unwanted serenade.
